Man hospitalized after Hamilton house party shooting

First Published:

After being called to a shooting at a downtown Hamilton house party Sunday night that sent a man to hospital in critical condition, police laid charges against a 22-year-old woman.

Officers arrived to find a 25-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound after what police termed in a statement as “the discharge of a firearm” in a room in the house near King St. East and Steven St. shortly after midnight.

First responders performed life-saving measures on the man while police tried to clear people from the room.

Investigators say a woman who was in the room became confrontational with police, attacked an officer and tried to disarm them.

As a result, Haily Moreau of Hamilton has been charged with disarming a peace officer.

Police continue to search the area for video surveillance footage and ask anyone with further information to contact police at 905-546-3833.
