A woman has been airlifted to hospital with life-threatening injuries following a crash Monday afternoon in Niagara Falls.

Police say a black Hyundai Elantra and a grey Jeep Wrangler collided around 1:15 p.m. in the area of Beechwood and Thorold Stone roads.

An Ornge air ambulance transported the woman to an out-of-region hospital, however in an update Tuesday police said that her injuries were later determined to be non-life threatening.

A 53-year-old man also sustained minor injuries but police say he did not require any additional treatment.

The roadway where the collision took place was closed for several hours but has since reopened.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Niagara police at 905-688-4111.
