Woman, 43, arrested after person stabbed in Toronto streetcar

Police have arrested and charged a 43-year-old Toronto woman after a person was stabbed multiple times on a Toronto streetcar Tuesday afternoon.

Toronto police were called to Spadina and Sussex avenues at 2 p.m. after a reported stabbing on a streetcar.

Police have identified the person who got stabbed in the streetcar as a 23-year-old woman.

Officers say the victim was taken to hospital and the suspect was arrested at the scene.

Leah Valdez, 43, of Toronto is charged with:

  • Attempt murder
  • Aggravated assault
  • Carry concealed weapon
  • Possess weapon dangerous to public peace
  • Possession of a prohibited or restricted weapon knowing its possession is unauthorized

Investigators say the suspect was scheduled to appear in virtual court Wednesday morning.
