The water supply has been shut off in certain buildings on McMaster University’s main campus Tuesday afternoon in order to conduct repairs.

A spokesperson for the post-secondary school says the water supply was turned off at 2 p.m. in the Mills Library, the Psychology Building, the Life Sciences Building, McMaster University Student Centre, Media Production Services, Gilmour Hall, L.R. Wilson Hall and Divinity College.

While the buildings remain open, its washrooms will be closed.

In a written notice on the university’s website, the school pointed to an interactive map that lists accessible washrooms on its campus.

Food services in the affected buildings are also closed. McMaster University’s Hospitality Services has provided a list of food services open in other areas.

The spokesperson says laboratory operations requiring access to water, including where emergency eyewash stations and showers may be needed or handwashing practices are required, should be shut down until water is available in the building.

There is no word yet on what time the water supply is expected to be restored.

Meanwhile, city crews are currently working to repair another watermain break that happened early Tuesday morning in Hamilton’s east end.

Water flooded several roads in the area of Barton Street East and Grays Road, leaving a gaping hole in the middle of the intersection.
