Dallas Buyers Club

Dallas Buyers Club comes to us from Canadian director Jean-Marc Vallée, and follows the true story of Texan Ron Woodroof.  A homophobic drug addict who, after being diagnosed with HIV in 1986, began smuggling anti-viral medications in to the US and distributing them to other patients.

The film debuted at the Toronto International Film Festival where all the hype was about Matthew McConaughey’s perhaps Oscar-worthy performance as Woodroof. Since then some of that attention has shifted to Jared Leto who puts in a powerful performance as Rayon, a transgender woman and fellow patient. The film also stars Jennifer Garner as their doctor, Eve Saks.
