Video captures pedestrian getting hit by car in Hamilton

First Published:

A pedestrian was struck by a car while crossing a street in downtown Hamilton, and the entire incident was captured on video.

On Sunday, a pedestrian was crossing the intersection of MacNab and Colbourne Street around 5 p.m.

Simultaneously, a driver pulls through the intersection and goes to turn south onto MacNab.

Despite the man having already begun crossing, the driver heedlessly continues and ploughs the passenger corner of the vehicle’s hood into the walker, sweeping him off his feet and sending him to the ground.

Immediately following the incident, the driver of a grey Toyota SUV can be seen getting out to check on the pedestrian. A brief interaction ensues, and both parties then depart the scene in the Toyota.

Police say they’ve spoken with the driver, and the investigation remains ongoing.

They confirmed that he may be charged with careless driving.

Officials could not comment on whether or not the pedestrian suffered any injuries.
