Victims tied up, one assaulted during Stoney Creek robbery

Hamilton Police are investigating after an employee was struck in the head with a steel mallet during a violent armed robbery in Stoney Creek.

Police say three men entered Azule Kitchens on Millen Rd. shortly after noon on March 23.

Two of the three employees who were working at the time were bound by duct tape at their wrists and ankles.

Police say the trio of thieves tried to rob the other employee and struck the victim in the head with a steel mallet. The employee suffered serious injuries and required surgery.

The suspects fled the scene in a black Infiniti. The vehicle was involved in a car crash on South Service Rd. a short time later.

Witnesses told police they saw the trio flee on foot and run towards a public storage facility on Burford Rd.

Hamilton police along with the Ontario Provincial Police located three suspects hiding inside an open storage locker.

Police also found drugs, money, duct tape, a loaded .357 Magnum handgun and a loaded 9mm Norinco semi-automatic handgun concealed inside the car.

Dwayne Bogle, 32, Russaine Hayden, 28, and Deosaran Persaud, 30, were charged with three counts of robbery with a firearm, two counts of forcible confinement, aggravated assault and several other firearm charges.
