Vice Media to halt publishing and layoff several hundred jobs

First Published:

The news media industry is watching another company close the door on workers this week.
In a memo sent to employees yesterday, Vice Media says hundreds of its employees will be laid off and its content will not be posted on its own website anymore.
The move follows a list of Canadian and American news outlets sending more workers to the unemployment line in recent months.
It appears it’s been an ongoing trend with more frequent job action according to industry experts.
Vice Media says it intends to look for partners to distribute their content – but some feel this may be the end of the line for the unique news company.
