UN General Assembly votes in favour of Gaza ceasefire

The United Nations General Assembly has overwhelmingly passed a resolution demanding an immediate humanitarian ceasefire in Gaza.

It happened yesterday, during the assembly’s emergency special session, with 153 countries voting in favour.

While nonbinding, it’s seen as politically significant and wielding moral weight.
