Halton Regional Police Inspector John Van Der Lelie: “There are lots of witnesses. We don’t believe this incident was controversial. Alcohol was not a factor. This was an accident that involved traffic lights”.
Police have yet to identify the victims in the car. They don’t know where they were going, but speculate they could have been leaving work. Investigators are on hand reconstructing the accident but say their work could take much longer because the victims in the car speak another language.
Inspector Van Der Lelie: “We can tell you there’s a language issue. We’ve had to get an interpreter that speaks Hindi or Indian. That person is currently at the hospital. We hope to find out more about who these people are”.
Two of the people in the car had to be extricated. It is a gruesome scene. One witness had to be taken home by police because they were so shaken up.
