Trial underway for Hamilton Mission Services stabbing death

First Published:

The trial of a man accused of killing a 31-year-old outside a local Hamilton shelter several years ago is underway.

In August of 2021, Christopher Sim was found suffering from stab wounds in the parking lot of Mission Services on James Street North.

Police say bystanders came to the man’s aid before first responders were able to reach him, and tried to provide life-saving measures.

Sim was later transported to hospital with life-threatening injuries, and was pronounced deceased a short time later.

Hamilton police identified 23-year-old Jheidohn Shakeed Serieaux, of no fixed address, as their primary suspect.

Serieaux was later arrested in Brantford, and charged with first-degree murder.

He has pleaded not guilty to the charge, and his judge-only trial began on Wednesday.

The crown called two witnesses Thursday, who were on scene when Sim was killed. The trial is continuing Friday.
