Traffic stop in Hamilton leads to recovery of illicit drugs

Police in Hamilton say a traffic stop for a loud exhaust resulted in the recovery of illicit drugs and charges being laid against two people on Monday.

Shortly after 8:30 p.m., an officer noticed a loud exhaust on a blue BMW that was travelling in the area of Wentworth St. and Main St.

As a result, the officer conducted a traffic stop and police located 0.64 grams of crack cocaine and 24 grams of crystal meth.

The two occupants of the vehicle now face charges in connection with the recovery.

A 34-year-old man from Scarborough faces charges for possession with the purpose of trafficking crystal meth.

A woman from Hamilton, aged 34-years, additionally faces charges of possession with the purpose of trafficking crystal meth and possession of crack cocaine.
