Teen arrested near Binbrook Festival with pellet gun: police

First Published:

A teenager is facing a weapons charge after they threatened a 14-year-old with a pellet gun near the Binbrook Fair.

Hamilton police say they were called out to a Tim Horton’s on Highway 56 shortly before 8 p.m. Friday after receiving a report concerning a firearm.

The department says the incident unfurled after a 16-year-old asked a 14-year-old for a vape pen before it escalated, and the 16-year-old drew a gun.

An hour later, the 16-year-old was tracked down at the festival and arrested. The arresting officers were able to determine their firearm was merely a pellet gun.

They have been charged with possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
