A popular downtown Hamilton restaurant and bar has been shut down.

Slainte Irish gastropub, is shuttered on legal filings claiming the owner has defaulted on more than $1.3 million in mortgages.

There are allegations that the owner of the bar has defaulted on six mortgages between 2008 and last year.

Slainte is owned by a numbered Ontario company controlled by Burlington resident Gary Ceppetelli.
