Shot fired during gas station robbery in Grimsby

Niagara police say a shot was fired during a gas station robbery in Grimsby.

On August 1, at around 4:37 a.m., police responded to a report of a robbery in progress at a Petro Canada gas station at 424 South Service Road between Industrial Drive and Casablanca Boulevard.

Investigation revealed that three suspects entered the gas station and confronted the employee demanding cash. Two of the men were armed, one with a pistol and the other with “bear spray.” The men stole cash and cigarettes.

Police say the employee feared for their life and attempted to run from the store, at which point the man armed with the pistol targeted the employee and fired one shot at them. The shot missed the employee striking a wall and they were not physically injured.

The first suspect is described as white, 5’9″, slender to medium build, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt with large green print, black track pants, black high top running shoes with white lettering and armed with a black handgun.

The second suspect is described as white, 6’0″, light brown hair, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt with large black print on front only, black Nike track pants, black Nike flip flips, black socks and armed with a pepper or bear spray cannister.

Suspect three is described as white, 5’5″. slender build, unknown gender, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, small Nike white swoosh on upper left chest, grey track pants, black and white Nike high top running shoes.

Police say the suspects are believed to have arrived and fled in a red Hyundai vehicle, possibly an Elantra. It is described as having a rear driver’s tire is a spare “donut tire, tinted windows and bright fog lights.

Investigation revealed the suspects drove by the gas station at around 4:30 a.m., before the robbery.
