Police investigating shooting in Burlington

Update: Police have identified the suspect wanted in the shooting as 37-year-old David Lavoie of Hamilton. He is considered armed and dangerous.

There is a heavy police presence in area of Maple Crossing Blvd. in Burlington after reports of a shooting. One person was taken to hospital with apparent gunshot wounds.

Halton police say the suspect fled on foot. He is described as male, white, bald, 5’10”, muscular, wearing a grey shirt and black pants. He is considered armed and dangerous.

Police do not believe this is a random incident.

Residents in the area can expect to see a heavy police presence throughout the night.

Reports suggest shots were fired in front of a home on Freeman St. shortly before 7 p.m.

Residents are asked to avoid the area while police conduct this active investigation.

Residents can expect a heavy police presence to continue for several hours.
