‘SCTV’ star Joe Flaherty dead at 82

A comedic legend is being remembered today as a sweet man who always garnered laughs.

Two-time Emmy-winning writer and Second City alumnus Joe Flaherty has died after a brief illness. He was 82.

Flaherty was born in Pittsburgh and spent seven years at the Second City in Chicago before moving north of the border to Canada.

He went on to star alongside the likes of John Candy and Catherine O’Hara in the iconic Canadian sketch series “SCTV.”
