School closures and cancellations for Monday, Jan. 17, 2022

A major winter storm in Southern Ontario has prompted a number of school closures and cancellations across the region.

Here is a list of school closures from our area:

Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board: All Hamilton-Wentworth District schools, child care and e-learning is cancelled for today. Administrative buildings are closed and transportation is not running.

Hamilton-Wentworth Catholic District School Board: All Hamilton-Wentworth Catholic schools are closed today. The elementary virtual school (for students who attend virtual regularly) will operate as per usual. The school board says in-person students can participate in asynchronous learning. Work will be posted by 10 a.m.

District School Board of Niagara: All Niagara District schools are closed today. Remote learning is also cancelled.

Niagara Catholic District School Board: All Niagara Catholic District schools are closed today. Remote learning is also cancelled.

Halton District School Board All Halton District schools are closed. Administrative centres and transportation are also closed.

Halton Catholic District School Board: All Halton Catholic schools are closed. Administrative centres and transportation are also closed.

Grand Erie District School Board: All Grand Erie schools and buses are closed today because of hazardous road conditions.

Brant Haldimand Norfolk Catholic District School Board: Brant Haldimand Norfolk Catholic District schools are closed today. Elementary schools have a scheduled PD day today. Secondary students will have asynchronous learning activities posted on Brightspace class pages.

Conseil scolaire catholique MonAvenir: All schools are closed but students will participate in virtual learning from home.

Mohawk College: All Mohawk College campuses will be closed today due to weather. All in-person and virtual/remote classes are cancelled. Most services are not available and events are to be rescheduled.

Niagara College: Due to inclement weather conditions on-campus classes/labs and activities have been cancelled for today. The school says all remote classes, services and work will continue as scheduled.

McMaster University: McMaster University is closed today due to inclement weather. All in-person and virtual classes and events are cancelled.

Brock University: All in-person classes and on-campus activities have been cancelled for today. Online classes will continue as scheduled and employees who have been working remotely due to the pandemic should continue to do so today.

Niagara Children’s Centre School Authority: School will be closed today.

Pathways Academy & Early Learning Centre: All programming in Niagara Falls is closed today.

Calvin Christian School: Schools are closed in both Hamilton and Caledonia today.

Providence Christian School: School is closed today due to severe weather.

YMCA Child Care: All YMCA Full Day Child Care centres and School Age Child Care centres are closed throughout Hamilton, Burlington and Brantford.

Trinity Christian School: Burlington school is closed today due to weather.
