Rolling strikes continue at school boards across Ontario

Schools will experience more closures this week as one-day strikes continue throughout the province amid stalled contract negotiations.
Members of the Elementary Teachers’ Federation of Ontario are expected to be protesting outside a downtown Toronto hotel Wednesday morning where Ontario’s education minister is scheduled to speak.
Stephen Lecce is expected to talk to the Canadian Club at the Royal York hotel about preparing students for the jobs of the future.
The union representing teachers in the French system has agreed to return to the bargaining table today, making it the only teachers’ union currently in bargaining talks with the province.
Here’s a look at what school boards will be affecting by the strikes this week.
Wednesday, February 12
ETFO: One-day strikes in Algoma, Greater Essex, Limestone, Niagara, Renfrew County, Toronto, Toronto Catholic (designated early childhood educators only) and Waterloo school boards, Moosonee and Moose Factory District School Authorities and Bloorview, John McGivney Children’s Centre, KidsAbility and Niagara Peninsula Children’s Centre School Authorities.
Thursday, February 13
ETFO: One-day strikes in Hamilton-Wentworth, Bluewater, Grand Erie, Keewatin-Patricia, Lakehead, Ontario North East, Ottawa-Carleton, Peel, Penetanguishene, Protestant Separate, Simcoe County, Superior-Greenstone, Trillium Lakelands and York Region School Boards, and Ottawa Children’s Treatment Centre.
OSSTF: One-day strikes in Algoma District School Board, Huron-Superior Catholic District School Board, Superior-Greenstone District School Board, Greater Essex County District School Board, Avon Maitland District School Board, Peel District School Board, District School Board of Niagara, Limestone District School Board, and Renfrew County District School Board.
FEESO: Dozens of schools with members in the Conseil scolaire public du Grand Nord de l’Ontario, Conseil scolaire catholique du Nouvel-Ontario, Conseil scolaire catholique MonAvenir, Conseil scolaire Viamonde and Conseil des écoles publiques de l’Est de l’Ontario will be taking part in a one-day strike.
