A 56-year-old retired teacher with the Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board has been arrested and is facing charges of luring a child under 16 years and invitation to sexual touching.

Investigators with Halton Regional Police say John Douglas Hashimoto was communicating online using the name David or David 46.

Hashimoto has been actively involved in youth baseball in the City of Hamilton and was a lead baseball instructor with the Toronto Blue Jays Baseball Academy and a Master Coach Developer and Evaluator for Baseball Canada.

Hashimoto was a seasonal employee with the Blue Jays from 2006 until early 2020, when his contract ended because of the pandemic.

Police believe there could be other victims and are asking anyone with information to contact the Halton Police Internet Child Exploitation Unit or Crimestoppers.
