Residents safely escape after fire breaks out at Oakville home

First Published:

Halton police say no injuries were reported after an overnight fire broke out at a home in Oakville.

Crews were called to a home on Galena Cres. near Eighth Line just before 11 p.m. Wednesday.

At least three fire trucks arrived on scenes and firefighters were able to quickly gain control of the blaze.

Video from the scene appears to show significant damage to the garage and parts of the second floor of the home.

Halton police say some neighbouring homes were evacuated as a precaution but residents were allowed back inside once the fire was contained.

No one was injured in the fire.

Police do not believe the fire is suspicious; however the Ontario Fire Marshal’s office has been notified.
