Repairs were underway in Hamilton after a water main break on Sunday that left roads closed into the afternoon.

The break happened in the area of Upper Wellington and Jay Streets in the morning hours.

Roads in the area were closed, leaving police to direct traffic as crews worked to repair the damage caused by the water seen rushing down the street.

Repairs were completed late last night.

This follows a similar water main break in the Kirkendall neighbourhood, from which the aftermath left gaping holes in the pavement that forced the hours-long closure of Aberdeen Avenue just one prior.

Following that break, Hamilton Ward 1 Councillor Maureen Wilson said on social media that crews would be inspecting the area to ensure that no debris from the break made its way into sewage pipes.
