Red Cross to help people in Turkey, Syria following fatal earthquake

The Canadian Red Cross has launched an appeal to assist people affected by the earthquakes in Turkey and Syria on Monday.
The agency is working to deliver emergency relief and to provide help as fast as possible.
In a release, the organization says money raised will help to provide immediate relief, ongoing recovery efforts, and resilience and preparedness activities in impacted and surrounding areas.
Canadians wishing to make a donation to the appeal can do so at www.redcross.ca or by calling 1-800-418-1111.

A significant 7.8-magnitude earthquake that hit Turkey and Syria on Monday has killed at least 5,000 people.
As the death toll from a series of earthquakes in Turkey and Syria continues to climb, countries are scrambling to send resources.
Search and rescue teams have also been mobilized from The European Union and NATO.
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has also responded to the fatal earthquake in Turkey and Syria saying Canada stands ready to help.
