Protecting yourself from hackers

First Published:

A cyber security expert tells CHCH news that data breaches will continue and that there are ways you can protect yourself from being a victim.  Marc Saltzman made his comments following word that one of Canada’s largest medical service companies has been hacked. The data breach has exposed private information of up to 15 million Canadians, with the majority being residents of Ontario. The data includes test results from 85-thousand residents.  LifeLabs has paid an undisclosed ransom to get the data back.  Cyber security firms are assuring the public that customer risk is low and those affected will be notified directly. Saltzman says changing your password is a good start to protecting yourself.
