HAPPENING NOW:

Potential CN & CKPC railway stoppage could impact GO Transit on Thursday

If you take GO Transit from Hamilton or Milton you could be impacted by the potential railway stoppage on Thursday.

A phased shutdown at CN Rail and CPKC is already underway. The union says it served a 72-hour strike notice to Canadian Pacific Kansas City. Teamsters issued a news release saying unless the parties can reach a last-minute agreement, workers will be off the job as of 12:01 a.m. eastern time Thursday.

Not long after that statement , CN Rail- the other company- issued a notice that it intends to lock outworkers at that same time unless an agreement or binding arbitration is achieved.

Metrolinx says service out of the downtown Hamilton GO Station would be temporarily suspended if a strike happens, but you can still catch a train out of West Harbour GO Station and Aldershot. The Milton line would also be temporarily suspended, and those customers are encouraged to use local transit or hope on the Lakeshore West or Kitchener trains.
