Police seek man after assault at Hamilton city hall encampment

Hamilton police are searching for a man who allegedly assaulted a person at an encampment near city hall.

Officers responded to the area of Hunter St. West and MacNab St. South around 5:15 p.m. Thursday for a report of a disturbance involving a knife.

Police arrived to find a female with minor injuries.

The suspect is described as a white or Hispanic male who is between five-foot-eleven and six-foot-one tall and has black wavy shoulder-length hair and a black goatee. He was last seen wearing a blue T-shirt and tan coloured pants.

Investigators are asking people in the area to check their security cameras between 3:30 and 5:30 p.m. Thursday.
