Police searching for wanted man traveling on foot in Burlington

First Published:

Halton police say they are searching for a wanted suspect on foot in Burlington.

Officers were originally searching in the area of New Street and Dynes Road for 41-year-old Tom Shade who is believed to be traveling on foot and is possibly armed.

Shade is wanted following an incident with police Friday morning where officers attempted to arrest him and he fled the scene.

Police say he is facing charges related to dangerous driving, flight from police, as well as failure to stop after an accident.

While searching for Shade, investigators found a loaded firearm, drugs, and other discarded property, and a warning was issued to residents.

Multiple schools were momentarily placed on hold and secure as officers canvassed the area, but those orders have since been lifted.

The manhunt then travelled to the shoreline and a police boat was deployed out into the water near Sioux Lookout Park.

Police have not released any details of the collision and if there were any injuries.

If you see Shade you should immediately call 911.
