Police make arrest in relation to fatal Norfolk County hit-and-run

An individual has been arrested and charged in connection with a fatal hit-and-run in Norfolk Haldimand County on Tuesday.

The collision originally happened on Indian Line near Concession 2 in the city of Townsend.

OPP Const. Ed Sanchuk said a man was struck by a vehicle shortly before 5 a.m. and suffered serious injuries before dying in hospital.

The driver of the vehicle did not remain at the scene of the collision.

Norfolk County OPP visited an address on David St. in Hagersville after an initial investigation and executed a search warrant.

One individual was taken into custody and police also seized one motor vehicle from the address.

Jermaine O’Raine Syblis, 39, of Haldimand County is charged with failure to stop at an accident resulting in death.

The accused was held in custody and is scheduled to appear in court in Simcoe.
