Police investigating after rainbow crosswalk defaced in NOTL

Niagara police are asking for witnesses to come forward after a rainbow crosswalk was damaged in Niagara-on-the-Lake on Monday.
Officers say they responded to a mischief compliant at the rainbow crosswalk located at the intersection of Anderson Ln. and Niagara Stone Rd,
Investigators have determined that the suspect was at the crosswalk location between 3 a.m. and 3:10 a.m. when they climbed a nearby utility pole and applied what is believed to be black spray paint to a surveillance camera pointed in the direction of the crosswalk.
The suspect then defaced the crosswalk with a spray painted profanity and left visible track marks by doing a burnout over the crosswalk.

At this time, there is no description of the suspect or vehicle.
Detectives are asking for businesses and residents in the nearby area to review any surveillance footage and report suspicious behavior.
Additionally, volunteer members of the Niagara-on-the-Lake Fire and Emergency Services who responded to an unrelated call at the Anderson Ln. fire station around 2:39 a.m. Monday are asked to report any persons or vehicles that may have seemed out of place or suspicious.
