Police investigating after 17-year-old girl stabbed at Jackson Square

Hamilton police are investigating after a 17-year-old girl was stabbed in the area of Jackson Square Thursday night.
Police say they responded shortly after 11 p.m. to the area of Jackson Square for reports of a 17-year-old female with a stab wound.
Officers suspect a group of friends were gathered in the area when two of them had a disagreement and the 17-year-old was stabbed. She is in stable, non-life threatening condition.

Reports say the suspect fled the scene and officers from the K9 unit could be seen searching around Jackson Square.
Police say an investigation is ongoing as they continue to interview witnesses and try to determine what happened leading up to the girl getting injured.
