Shootings hit record-high in the city after shots fired on Hamilton Mountain

Hamilton police are investigating a shooting in a Stoney Creek neighbourhood Thursday night, the city’s 54th reported shooting of the year.

This marks the city’s highest number of reported shootings in one year, beating 53 shootings in 2020.

Officers responded to a call around 9:30 p.m. of shots fired in the area of Showcase Drive, in the southeast area of Stoney Creek Mountain.

Police say they believe the shooting was targeted, but the motive is under investigation.

Investigators are looking for a silver SUV that possibly sped away from the scene, heading westbound on Showcase Drive.

Anyone with video or information on the shooting is asked to contact police.
