A six-month-long drug trafficking investigation in the Halton Region has led to the seizure of illegal drugs worth an estimated $1,000,000.

Halton police say they carried out several search warrants at the end of March in Milton and Mississauga.

Officers seized the following illegal substances:

  • 15 kilograms of Cocaine
  • 1.1 kilograms of Fentanyl
  • 1 kilogram of Ketamine
  • 0.5 kilogram of MDMA
  • 285 grams of Heroin

Police have charged Abdullah-Akhound Khawaja, 29, of Milton with five counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking.

A 27-year-old from Edmonton, Francisco Mejia-Chavarria, is also facing two possession charges.

Police say both accused were held pending a bail hearing.

“Bulk quantities of illicit drugs are routinely supplemented with toxic substances which can cause significant harm to the unsuspecting end user. Considering the street sale profits derived from this seizure, the wholesale value of $1,000,000 grows exponentially,” Regional Investigative Services Inspector Dave Costantini said.

“The individuals involved in organized crime do not care about the risk they pose to public safety, they care about stuffing their own pockets.”

Warrants have additionally been issued for the arrest of the following two individuals from Mississauga:

  • Kevin Nguyen, 26
  • Tran Larissa Vu, 26
