Police charge Welland man with child pornography offences

First Published:

Niagara police arrested and charged a 49-year-old man in the City of Welland for possessing child pornography.

Officers say they began an investigation in September into an unknown person in the Niagara region who was allegedly accessing child pornography.

Investigators executed a search warrant Wednesday at a residence in Welland and arrested Patrick F. Paone who was found at the home.

Police charged Paone for possessing and accessing child pornography.

Paone was held in custody after his arrest and was scheduled to appear at a bail hearing at a St. Catharines courthouse on Wednesday.

Detectives say Paone was actively involved in coaching minor hockey within the Niagara region.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police.
