Police charge 3rd driver in fatal Hamilton Mountain crash

Police have charged a third driver in connection with a collision on the Hamilton Mountain last month that killed one person and injured two others.
Officers say a Yamaha motorcycle was travelling northbound on Upper James St. approaching Twenty Rd. around 9:30 p.m. on April 13 when it collided with a Toyota SUV heading southbound.
The motorcycle driver was taken to hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries, while the passenger was thrown from the motorcycle and later pronounced dead in hospital.
The driver of the SUV was treated in hospital before being released.

On April 21, investigators said they identified the driver of a third vehicle involved in the collision. The 44-year-old Hamilton man was charged with failing to remain causing bodily harm.
The Yamaha motorcycle driver was charged with driving without a licence, driving while suspended and using a plate not authorized for the vehicle.
On Thursday, officers announced they have also arrested and charged the driver of the Toyota SUV.
The 49-year-old Hamilton woman is charged with careless driving causing bodily harm or death under the Highway Traffic Act. She is expected to appear in court in June.
