Three people are facing murder charges in connection with a fatal shooting that happened last summer in Oakville.

Halton Regional Police say 27-year-old Arman Dhillon of Alberta died on Aug. 19 after being shot near Belt Lane and Littlefield Road.

A woman sustained “life-altering” injuries, but survived the shooting. The suspects fled in a vehicle shortly after the incident.

“This was a terrifying event for the residents of this community. Fortunately, no other persons were injured as a result,” said Deputy Chief Jeff Hill.

Investigators carried out several search warrants across the Greater Toronto Area on Tuesday.

Thirty-year-old Joseph Richard Whitlock of Pickering, 29-year-old Karn Veer Sandhu of Edmonton and 25-year-old Kulvir Bhatia of Calgary are each charged with first-degree murder and attempted murder.

Police say none of the accused were on a release for violent crime at the time of the murder and the homicide was a targeted action as a part of a larger criminal-based conflict.

Anyone with information or video of the area is asked to contact the homicide unit tip line at 905-825-4776.
