Police arrest three men after gunshot fired at Brantford residence

Three men from Brantford are facing gun-related charges following an investigation into a gunshot being fired at a residence on Feb. 7.

Brantford police say they were notified around 11:30 a.m. on Feb. 7 of a suspected gunshot heard coming from a residence on Tenth Avenue.

An investigation revealed that two male suspects were seen driving up to the Tenth Avenue residence where they got into an altercation with a third man before returning to their vehicle and fleeing the scene.

Police say a gunshot is believed to have been fired during the interaction.

All three men, a 45-year-old and two 29-year-olds, have been arrested and charged with offences related to firearms, assault, and break and enter.

Search incident to arrest found one of the 29-year-old men to be in possession of brass knuckles, illegal drugs, cash, a digital scale and drug packaging materials, so he faces additional charges related to drug offences and the possession of a weapon.

On Feb. 16, police carried out a search warrant at a Burwell Street address in relation to this investigation.

Officers found approximately 420 grams of suspected methamphetamine, 42 grams of suspected fentanyl, an undefined quantity of hydromorphone, dilaudid, and morphine, a tactical vest, and a handgun.

The total estimated street value of the illegal drugs seized from the Burwell Street address is $62,568.

As a result, the 29-year-old Brantford man is also facing the following 12 charges:

  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • Knowledge of unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • Careless storage of a firearm
  • Possession of restricted firearm
  • Possession of a prohibited device – Magazine x 2
  • Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose
  • Failure to comply with undertaking
  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking – Methamphetamine
  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking – Fentanyl
  • Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking – Morphine
  • Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking – Hydromorphone
