Police arrest suspect after Georgetown high school stabbing

A student at Georgetown District High school is facing charges after he allegedly stabbed another student in a classroom Thursday afternoon.
Halton police say the school went into lockdown around 3 p.m. for a short period of time for police investigation.
Investigators say a person was stabbed with a sharp object, while students say he was stabbed several times in the face with a pair of scissors.
According to police, the victim was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Investigators say the victim was scheduled to be released from hospital Thursday night. He sustained serious injuries, which required stitches to the face and upper body.

The 17-year-old suspect was taken into custody later by police and has been charged with aggravated assault and possession of a weapon dangerous to the public.
Officers say the young offender is held in custody pending a bail hearing.
Police will not be confirming whether or not the suspect is a student at the school.
