OPP release limited details about death in Waterford

Residents in Waterford may have noticed an increased police presence in the area over the weekend after reports came in about a death at a residential address.

Members of Ontario Provincial Police Norfolk responded shortly after 8 a.m. yesterday to a house on Mechanic St. in Waterford, about 25 minutes south of Brantford.

Detectives say there is no threat to public safety, but they are releasing limited details about the ongoing investigation.

There is no word on whether the deceased is a man or woman, or whether the circumstances surrounding their death are suspicious.

The Norfolk OPP Crime Unit is working with the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch, the Office of the Chief Coroner for Ontario, and Ontario Forensic Pathology Services in order to complete this investigation.

Updates will be provided when additional information is made available.
