OPP lay charges after truck carrying large load causes traffic delays

First Published:

OPP officials have laid charges following an incident with an oversized truck load that caused traffic delays on the Queen Elizabeth Way (QEW) Thursday morning.

According to police, a lane on the Toronto-bound QEW was forced closed at Bartlett Avenue in Grimsby after a truck carrying an oversized load was unable to fit under an overpass.

This caused traffic delays for commuters heading towards the city.

Police confirmed on social media later in the day the truck was able to back up and exit the highway at Maple Avenue.

An investigation ensued following the traffic slowdown, which resulted in officials laying charges against the driver and the trucking company.

They will be required to attend court to face charges of permit violations and interfering with traffic.
