Ontario to hand out free COVID-19 rapid tests at pop-up sites and some LCBO locations

The Ontario government announced Wednesday it will be giving out COVID-19 rapid tests at pop-up sites and some LCBO locations as part of a “holiday testing blitz.”

The province will provide up to two million rapid tests at pop-up testing sites in high-traffic settings including malls, retail settings, holiday markets, public libraries and transit hubs.

Select locations across the province will also offer testing on-site.

Every person that receives a package of tests or gets a test on-site will be provided with information and resources about rapid antigen screening and COVID-19.

“As we combat the spread of the highly contagious Omicron variant, nothing matters more than getting these booster doses into people’s arms,” said Premier Doug Ford in a news release. “I am issuing a call to arms. We need every member of Team Ontario to stand tall and do their part as we work to protect our hard-fought progress and keep Ontarians safe.”
Testing kits will be available for anyone who is not exhibiting COVID-19 symptoms or who has not recently been in contact with someone with COVID-19

Appointments are not needed to access a pop-up site. However, each site has a limited number of kits available for distribution.

There is a limit of one test kit per person.
