A 22-year-old woman from Niagara Falls was pronounced dead at a Toronto trauma center following a crash OPP describe as horrific on the QEW in Mississauga last night. Police believe the young woman was an innocent victim of a road rage incident between two other vehicles.

Police are now looking for the driver of what they describe as a small passenger car similar to a Honda Civic.

Friends on social media are confirming the identity of the 22-year-old killed as Nicole Turcotte.

She was one of seven people involved in the crash last night on the eastbound QEW at Cawthra Rd.

Her friends say she was an amazing, happy woman who loved photography.

On her Facebook page it says Turcotte was a cashier at the Sport Chek at Sherway Gardens.

Port Credit OPP were called around 10 p.m. last night for a serious crash.

Police say five cars were involved, 12 people in total.

OPP Sgt. Kerry Schmidt says seven people were injured.

Five had minor injuries but two others – Turcotte and her 19-year-old friend – were rushed to a trauma centre fighting for their lives. Turcotte was pronounced dead overnight while her friend from Niagara Falls is still in critical condition with family by her side.

Turcotte and her friend were both passengers in a vehicle. The man driving is expected to be okay.

Schmidt says they have the license plate of the vehicle and are looking to speak with the driver.

The highway was closed until 3 a.m. this morning. Investigators are reviewing traffic camera video and speaking to witnesses.

They are also asking anyone who may have information or any video to call Port Credit OPP.
