One person arrested after Niagara police investigate a weapons call

Niagara police have arrested one person after a weapons call was made to a Niagara-on-the-Lake home Sunday afternoon.

The incident took place in the area of Niagara Stone Rd. near Ann St. The call had police concerned because a firearm might have been involved.

Officers were seen with rifles as they walked along the street and pedestrians were redirected around the area.

The house was eventually cleared for safety and the person was arrested at the scene.

Detectives executed a search warrant on the residence and nothing of evidentiary value was found to further the investigation. As a result, the person who had been arrested has been released from custody.

Anne St. was closed between Mississauga and Simcoe St and has since reopened.

Investigators say there is no ongoing public safety threat from this incident.
