The Ontario Provincial Police are reminding the public to be aware of various scams after a Norfolk County senior was defrauded over $10,000 to an “Amazon scam.”

Officers say they received a call from an elderly resident around 5 p.m. who stated they had been the victim of a scam on Saturday.

Investigators determined that the elderly person received a call from a person claiming to work for Amazon.

Police say the suspect advised that there was an issue with the victims account and needed remote access through their computer to solve the problem.
