Niagara West MPP Sam Oosterhoff criticized for photos of large gathering

Niagara West MPP Sam Oosterhoff is under fire for a now-deleted Facebook post with pictures of a large gathering.

Oosterhoff posted six photos to his Facebook account this weekend before quickly deleting them.

In the images, he can be seen surrounded by people. They are not physically distanced and no one is wearing a mask.

The photos appear to have been taken at a restaurant.

The province allows 50 people to gather inside staffed locations however, physical distancing guidelines remain in place.

Oosterhoff has apologized for not wearing a mask.

Premier Ford pushed aside suggestions Oosterhoff should resign as parliamentary assistant to Minister of Education Stephen Lecce.

Ford says he has “100 per cent” confidence in Oosterhoff, saying everyone makes mistakes.
