Niagara police officer who shot fellow cop in 2018 charged with perjury

A Niagara police officer has been charged in connection with his testimony at the trial of a fellow officer related to an on-duty altercation between them in Pelham four years ago.

Niagara police say the Crown stayed charges against Const. Nathan Parker in the altercation on Nov. 29, 2018 when shots were fired and Parker was injured.

However, Hamilton police were asked to investigate following concerns that Sgt. Shane Donovan may not have been truthful in his testimony at Parker’s trial last year.

Niagara police say the investigation concluded Tuesday, and Donovan has been charged with one count of perjury.

Donovan is scheduled to appear in a Hamilton court on Dec. 12.
