Niagara police investigate weekend stabbing at Sherkston Shores

Niagara police are investigating a stabbing at Sun Retreats Sherkston Shores on Saturday that left a man in hospital with serious injuries.

Officers responded to the campground in Port Colborne shortly before 10:30 p.m. for reports of a stabbing.

Paramedics brought a 22-year-old man to a local hospital with a serious stab wound before an Ornge air ambulance later transported the man to an out-of-region hospital.

Investigators learned there was a fight near the basketball court at the campground, however, many of the people involved had left when police arrived.

Officers arrested one person but they were later released unconditionally. Investigators are now working to identify the suspect.
