Police are investigating after a man’s body was found in a grassy area off the roadway Saturday afternoon in the city of Port Colborne.

Authorities say they believe 38-year-old Daniel Sanvido’s death was the result of a homicide and are investigating it as such.

Sanvido’s car, a black 2016 Hyundai Tucson, was found in St. Catharines.

Emergency crews responded to a call to the area of Forks Road and Highway 140 just after 3:30 p.m. on Saturday where someone found a dead body.

Detectives say the investigation is in its preliminary stages and have not relieved any additional details.

Officers say they do not believe there is an on-going threat to the community.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police.
