Niagara-on-the-Lake presents town’s key to artist Trisha Romance

First Published:

The inaugural key to the town of Niagara-on-the-Lake was presented on Sunday to a local artist known far and wide.

Watercolor artist Trisha Romance was the recipient of this prestigious award.

Romance’s works have captured the essence of home, family, and the unique charm of Niagara-on-the-Lake with work that has been showcased in over 400 galleries across North America.

Beyond her artistic achievements, Romance is a dedicated philanthropist, having raised thousands of dollars for charitable causes.

These are the many reasons she is receiving the key to the town she now calls home.

“I was not only overwhelmed but truly humbled. All I kept thinking was, why me?,” said Romance.

The town’s Mayor, Gary Zalepa spoke highly of Romance stating, “The town of Niagara-on-the-Lake has never before given a key to the town, and so today we are going to recognize one of our prime residents.”

Romance has received honours including the Order of Ontario and the Canadian Artist of the Year for four consecutive years in the 90s.

Sunday marks the 40th anniversary of the artist’s first gallery in Niagara-on-the-Lake, adding extra significance to this honor.
