Niagara public health officials have detected the summer’s first instance of West Nile Virus in West Lincoln.

Mosquitoes in the area tested positive for the disease, but there are no reports of it spreading to humans.

Local officials are cautioning residents to wear long sleeves and pants, apply bug repellent and get rid of any standing water.
