HAPPENING NOW:

West Nile Virus in Burlington mozzies

A batch of mosquitoes collected in Burlington last week has tested positive for the west nile virus.

It’s the first batch of infected mosquitoes found in Burlington this year, and the second in the Halton region.

An earlier batch tested positive in Oakville.

Public health officials say August and September are the months with the highest risk for human infection.

They recommend you cover up and avoid being outside from early evening to morning.
